Basic Patternmaking – draft your own skirt block

Spaces left

Can't find the right skirt pattern out there in the shops?

Would you like a skirt which fits you perfectly?

Abigail Langley is a professional patternmaker who will walk you through the simple steps from taking your measurements right through to the finished sample. There are endlesss possibilities for you to make other fab skirts once you have your own basic skirt pattern.

Come and learn to draft your very own skirt pattern which will be made to fit you and nobody else but you!

The short course will cover...

* Basic pattern making principles and terminology *Taking body measurements* Using your own measurements to draw up a basic skirt onto paper (skirt will have darts, a zipper and a waistband)* Working out fabric metreage for your skirt, cutting out your skirt and then sewing it up in calico  to the fitting stage* Trying it on, fitting it on your body and then making any necessary adjustments to your pattern.

You will make  your skirt up in calico until your pattern is perfected (calico and patternmaking paper are included in the cost of the course). You can then make your skirt out of "real" fabric at home afterwards.  See "what to bring" below.

Please note : You need to have basic sewing skills for this course
